| Alex Smith enters his 23rd season in Professional baseball. He is in his 18th year of Professional Scouting currently working the Middle Atlanitc Area for the Washington Nationals. Alex finished his playing career in 1989 as a member of the AAA Richmond Braves. He was ranked #1 in fielding percentage for 3B in 1988 in the (AAA) International / American Association League. He ranked 2nd in hitting in the (A)Carolina League in 1987 just behind Leo Gomez of the Baltimore Orioles. He also tied a Professional record with Renne Stennet of the Pittsburgh Pirates and broke a (A) South Atlantic record by going 7 for 7 in a nine inning game in 1986, his 1st year in Professional baseball. Alex has drafted over 50 players and has signed many current Major League players including Ryan Zimmerman, Justin, Maxwell, Mike O'Connor of the Washington Nationals and Daryl Thompson and Bill Bray now playing with the Cincinnati Reds.
Randy Kail continues his partnership with Alex in baseball training for 15 years. One of the senior coaches in Baltimore Amateur baseball, he has guided youth teams since 1988. While playing for Randy and beyond, 53 players have been professionally drafted while numerous others have gone on to collegiate baseball at multiple levels. Collegiately, Randy coached at Baltimore City CC and BCCC - Essex until 1995. |
